Avington House in Hampshire and Winchester
Thursday 23 April 2020

Booking opens 12 March 2020

Avington House is a small 16th century, privately owned stately home in Hampshire set in its own parkland bordering on the River Itchen. It was once described by William Corbett as “one of the prettiest places in the County”. In the 17th Century Avington was enlarged to accommodate Charles II and Nell Gwynn. The house was further enhanced to welcome George IV and Mrs Herbert. The beautiful conservatory was added in 1848.

We will have a guided tour of the exquisite house and have coffee there. After our visit to Avington our coach will take us to Winchester, where we will have free time to enjoy lunch and the many attractions of the city including the cathedral, the Great Hall of Winchester Castle where King Arthur’s round table can be seen or the characterful individual shops.
